Where can I get help?If you are in an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately. Hate Crimes Prevention Program (HCPP)SISO has developed a Hate Crime Prevention Project to provide education about hate crimes, help work toward eliminating acts of hatred within Hamilton, and to improve the level of resources & services available for victims. Our mandate includes a particular focus on visible minorities, immigrants, and refugees as well as the LGBTQ community and women. We have staff available to provide counselling services, information and referrals to individuals who have been victimized by hate crimes. Cultural interpretation can be arranged as needed with advance notice.
Help for LGBTQ victimsThe Well is a great resource for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer victims of hate crimes. The Well provides peer support groups, referrals to counselling, access to community resources and more.

Contact Victim ServicesVictim Services is a branch of Hamilton Police Services. You can call Victim Services to get help without having to file a police report. Victim Services is confidential and staffed 24 hours a day.
Call 911 in an emergencyIf you are in an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately. When you call 9-1-1, you will reach a Communications Call Taker who will take your information and explain to you how your report will be taken. If your incident is not considered a police matter, the Call Taker will attempt to refer you to the proper service or agency that can help you. If you are not in an emergency, call the non-emergency switchboard at 905-546-4925. |
