Can I submit it anonymously? When you submit a report on this website, we will protect your confidentiality. This means that we will not share or disclose your information without your consent, unless required by law (*). If you wish to remain anonymous to our staff, you can choose to submit a report without providing information that could identify you (such as your name or phone number). You are able to skip past questions at any time during the report and you can provide as much or as little detail as you feel comfortable providing. If you choose to remain anonymous to our staff, you will not be contacted by anyone associated with this website. If you choose to submit a report without your name and contact information, and later decide you need help or want to access our services, you can submit another report, or you can contact us directly. What is the difference between ‘confidential’ and ‘anonymous’?When you file a confidential report, it means that we will not share or disclose your information without your consent, unless required by law. Our staff are trained to provide services in a discreet and private manner. Staff who review your report have also filed a criminal police check with SISO. An anonymous report is one that contains no personally identifying information about the victim or witnesses. However, it is still possible that through the information you provide, somebody somewhere could identify you based on that information. Our records, including submitted reports, are subject to all applicable laws, and could be obtained and used by a court of law. On our website, we can guarantee that we will treat your report with the utmost of confidence. However, it may not be possible to guarantee your anonymity in all cases. For more information, we encourage you to contact us and speak with us about making a report. (*) Due to Canadian law, we can not guarantee your anonymity because in some cases if a legal request is made for a copy of a report, we would have to comply. |
